Inspiration
Everything i play has come from the inspiration that has effected me through out my musical journey and it is because of those people that i continue to doing what i love...playing the guitar, they do this by releasing new material and keeping me interested by constantly proving that i have more to learn and this musical journey is far from finished. but these three have given me so much through their music, time and energy that i know i wouldn't me the musician i am or the person i am this day :D
Terry Lees is the sole reason i started playing guitar. after having a drum lesson in Eastbourne me and my mum were going to the seafront to get something to eat and as we were going towards the cafe some music caught our ears, there was a festival happening and on stage was a man playing guitar, me being just a drummer at the time was so impressed when i saw someone playing fingerstyle folk music that i decided i wanted to play guitar. so the next day i went to my local music shop and got a phone number for a teacher and to my surprise the person that i was speaking to was the same person who inspired me to play the day before and so for the next 10+ years i had lessons from terry. he has been probably the greatest inspiration to me for his years of lessons, all the knowledge that he's shared and for being such an incredible player that whenever i see him play i want to pick my guitar up and practice :D buy his albums and go see him play live so he can continue doing what he does best.
Eric Roche was the first guitarist that i saw playing the acoustic and using it like a drum which i can say completely blew my mind and resulted in me spending hours upon hours practicing this style and ultimately shaped the whole direction in which my compositions would go. Unfortunately Eric Died from Cancer but to this day his music is one of my favorites to listen to. i can't begin to describe how wonderful he was as someone to have met but i can say how that has effected me, it encouraged me to look for more beauty in everything, to embrace kindness and generosity and always keep love in my heart, not that these elements weren't there to begin with but meeting eric made me explore them even more and inspired me to always look at the joy in this world :D
Thomas Leeb has been truly one of the most helpful guitarists i've met, from the first moment i saw him play his music has given me so much inspiration and that music has always pushed me towards practicing more, playing more and exploring the possibilities that the guitar can offer, and i am incredibly thankful for the guitar bootcamp that he hosts in Austria that as been a vital part of my continued learning, without Thomas and the time he has put into teaching i would not be the guitarist i am today. not only is he an amazing guitarist but a beautiful person that inspires me even outside of the musical domain. please buy his music and go to his shows so he can continue creating brilliant music to inspire me :D
There are so many more that i've met along my musical journey but these three have helped me so much in becoming the musician i am today.
